Cold Buster Juice

Even some of us super-healthed-up nutrinistas suffer a little immunity snag here and there… and if it’s a little sniffle I’m feeling coming on, I go straight to my juicer, and whip up a batch of this never failing “Cold Buster” juice.

ginger-shot-lemon

Ingredients for 1 serving:

1 pointing finger’s worth of ginger
1 small lemon
1/2 grapefruit, skin removed
1/2 apple if you simply can’t drink it “straight”.

Run through your juicer, close your eyes, and drink up!

Warning… it’s not for the “faint of tastebuds”, this juice definitely packs a punch BUT… it burns sooooo goooood ;) and it’ll burn those bugs right outa of ya!

Shrimp & Greens Salad

Not only is this salad bustling with flavor, but I love it for the CR*R*RUNCH!  shrimp avocado salad

Crunchy snacks and foods make us feel more satisfied and fulfilled (think biting into a crisp, juicy apple Vs. eating apple sauce…  what’s more fun?  (and enjoyable)) …but I digress :)

Ingredients for 1 serving:
1 lime
7 cooked small/med shrimp, “cubed”
Handful of cilantro
1 scallion rod (you can substitute onion, level Tbsp should do)
1/2 green pepper
4 or 5 inches of cucumber, seeded
1/2 avocado
Salt

Direction:
Dice and cube all, sprinkle with sea salt, squeeze out the lime, combine and enjoy!
So refreshingly simple!

Livin’ Greens Soup

Chilled… and very cool indeed!
Live Green Asparagus SoupOh… and did I mention it’s LIVE???
“What does that MEAN exactly?” you might ask. Well, LIVE means it’s NEVER been cooked, and never been heated past a certain point.
“Why should I care?” you might ask.  Well, because when you keep things quote on quote “live” – you preserve all the precious, vital nutrients contained IN that food, that would have been lost in the cooking process.
AND, since you’re blending it and cracking fiber cell walls, you’re getting even MORE of those precious, detoxifying, slimming, filling, yummy vitamins and minerals.
So I say… “GO GREENS GO!”  (I was a cheerleader in high school, so sue me).

Ingredients:
1/2 peeled cucumber
4 or 6 shoots of asparagus
1 celery rod
handful of baby greens (such as spinach & baby lettuces)
couple of leaves of basil
salt
1/2 cup water + few ice cubes

Directions:
Peel cucumber, cube.  Toss in the Vitamix (or blender) with all ingredients.  Set to “smoothie”, give it a whirl…  Donezo!

You now have NUTRIpowers!
